G310R India Launch Delayed

The BMW G310R is going through a delay for the India launch. No reason has been listed so it's still unknown but it could be arriving to the market by the end of 2017 (Q4) opposed to this April

With the rumors doing rounds in the market, it is speculated that the bike manufacturer is unable to decide the price point of the bike which if priced too low could impact the brand image of the company. On the other hand, if priced too high, the bike may not attract the number of buyers the company is aiming. Another take on this is that the bike competitors are also retailed at very attractive price point. Moreover, the bike has been spotted numerous times in India while testing devoid of any camouflage as it was believed to be in the final stage of testing.

Maybe there's no hurry compared to colder climates where the riding season is not year round and people are less likely to buy a new motorcycle in the winter months. That lull can be filled by the India market.

So these could be on time with other markets perhaps? It would distribute global sales and take the brunt off of trying to fill a higher demand?

I've read in a recent article (can't find it now) that the launch in India is delayed until BMW is able to cobble up some sort of service network there. I guess they don't want new owners to be on their own with required maintenance.

Would the service not be performed by the dealer selling the g310r? Or would BMW want to open their own storefronts? Though the second option seems unlikely. I may have found the article you were talking about: https://www.zigwheels.com/news-featu...ere-now/26792/

On its part BMW states, the delay is due to BMW Motorrad currently focusing on setting up showrooms and service network across India but then will it be a case of a product too late?

It should be done by each independent dealer. As much as it's new, it shouldn't require any special training for technicians or require specialty techs for it at all.
