Chain size

I can't seem to find any spec for the chain size on the bike. One place stated that it was 112 links (sounds about right) - but nothing stating the chain size. I suspect that it's a 520, but...

TIA

Michael
My information from several websites is that it is an X-Ring HD chain.
I think it is supposed to be a 520H-120 (120 links) and has a 5/8 inch pitch (15.875 mm).
Please count the links on your old chain before you spend the big bucks...as there is some confusion here on how many there are.

The chain supposedly has a total length of 120 links including the rivet coupling link and the pitch length ( distance from pin to pin ) is 5/8 in. or precisely 15.875 mm so in theory, the total length should be 1905 mm if my math is correct. If someone wants to count the links that would be good. I think that 520H is stamped on each link.

The price from BMW is not out of line with industry prices..

Thanks - a note on motorcycle chain size numbers. And why they're based on inches, I don't know. Tradition and/or inertia, probably.

A 520 chain is 5/8" from pin to pin (the "5" in the 520). A 620 chain would be 6/8" from pin to pin.

The second part - "20" is the width of the roller between the side plates. A 520 chain's rollers are 2/8" wide. A 530 chain has rollers 3/8" wide and a 525 chain's rollers are 5/16" (2.5/8) wide.

I'll go down and count the links on my GS a bit later today and post here.

112 links on an '18 G310GS.

I'm nowhere near needing replacement, but I like D.I.D. VX chains with riveted master links. I've also learned to replace both sprockets when I replace the chain.
