Air Hawk R seat padding on G310R

Has anyone fitted the above to their bike for long distance riding? I’m averaging over 500km when I go riding and planning a large ride (8000km) in the coming months.

Cheers,

Matt

Get your seat professionally redone. Don't buy an Add-on or a name brand seat. Talk with the heads of parts departments and service depts of various dealerships not just BMW and see if they recommend anyone. The guy that redid my seat had been doing motorcycle seats and high end cars, boats, planes etc for over 35 years, and only charged me $125 to completely rebuild my seat. I have been on many 400 plus mile days and love it. I now have over 12k miles on my 2018 G310GS and can not stress enough the stock seat is crap get it rebuilt.

What kind of work do they specifically do to the seat? I'm new to motorcycling, but I always figured the seat I got was the seat I got. Just came back from a 600 mile trip and definitely wish my seat was more comfortable.

A custom seat is definitely the best way to go - but can be expensive and your butt may not like it any better than the stock saddle - requiring another brand or a rework. Aftermarket seats may also jack you up higher than the stock - an issue if you have short legs.

I have an Airhawk on my Tiger Explorer with almost 40K happy miles on it (the Airhawk, the TEx has more than 40K - but they weren't happy miles pre-Airhawk).

Relatively cheap, you modify nothing, so other options are still open, and it works incredibly well. Need to try it on my 310GS (I have Short Leg Syndrome).

Thanks for the feedback, I’m 6’4” and 105kg so can do with all the extra padding.

@Matt_bmw ,

In that case check out the Seat Concepts Tall seat for the G. Do a search on the Forum for Seat Concepts there's a thread with photos.

I'm 5'4" with a 27" inseam so unfortunately I don't fit the tall. In my case, I feel trapped between the tank and the hump.

28" inseam here - I feel your pain. I bought the BMW "low" seat and the trapped feeling was worse. Went back to the original.

I'm thinking about talking with a local seat maker to see if he can do anything with the low seat, which is a $400+ paper weight at the moment.

The guy that did my seat re-sculpted it to fit me. Look at the G310 seat and you will notice it has a reverse curve where the upper section starts and has a somewhat sharp point that is directly inline with your tail bone. On long trip that dug into my backside and hurt alot after about 200-250 miles of riding. My rebuilt seat curves to match your backside and had 5 different densities of foam used ( much better support and comfort ) and he took off all the hard edges around the entire seat that contour with your legs. Much better looking as well and was able to use the same cover material. For $125 you cant buy any seat for that price and is far more comfortable that any add-on I have ever used, with no worry of damage, slippage, or getting hot when left in the sun. Gel pads absorb heat and hold it a long time, they dont breath or dissipate the heat quickly.
Just my 2 cents worth find a good seat guy and you wont be disappointed.

PHOTOS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Please Zente, you seem to have to have already done what I had in mind for me during the winter.

In fact I'd ask for a full description of the work done on you're seat, to inspire the seat guy I will eventually find.

TIA
