it is the same company, but in uk they were out of stock and also getting it directly from germany is cheaper. i just ordered one.

I am getting the manual soon, so I will check the torque settings for the front sprocket. if you don't know, you just tighten is very hard, you will be ok. make sure that someone stands of on the rear brake when you tighten the nut, because doing it on the first gear is vary bad for the gearbox.

You could use 4, 5 or 6th gear, or better, jam a screw driver etc. between the sprocket and the chain.
Difficult to stand on the brake if you are on your own...

yes, jamming a screwdriver is another option. but it is better if your friend stands on the rear brake lever. or you wife putting your bike on 5 or 6 gear will not help much i am afraid,,,,

Front sprocket for the 310R is 28nm + loctite 234 (med strength) Bolt size M8 x 28mm

Rear for the 310R is 1st 10nm -- final 30nm ( + BM say use new nuts)

As the same are used on GS would say torque the same.

All this according to the last manual I have.

Could not PM hasselman as I have only just joined.

28nm seems much too little for the front sprocket. to give an example, on my Vulcan S the torque is 160nm. 22nm is the torque for brake calliper, or front forks triple tree....etc...

there is no need to use new nuts for the rear sprockets. same as there is no need to replace the washers for the engine oil drain bolt. the companies just want to make money by making us buying all that stuff.

torque

It is only an M8 bolt holding on the sprocket. ( Vulcan has a much larger nut ? not a skinny bolt)

(the G650GS is an M10 and only 40nm + loctite)

These are the BM manual figures I have taken from manual , as someone asked I tried to help.

As for replacing the nuts up to you , if the bike is in warranty I might change them , in case there warranty claim would not want to give BM any excuse to reject a claim.

Buying a 2nd hand bike that has had everything over-tightened and leaking oil , not fun.
You can buy decent quality nuts and sumps washers from suppliers other than BMW but equal quality or better for less.
heap likes this.
