8000km in a month

And zero mechanical problems, aside from the ABS shutting off several times. The mechanic found a loose connection when I brought it in for the 10k service, so hopefully that's finally fixed. Anyway, the important thing is that the bike never left me stranded through 14 countries in temperatures ranging from 10 to 40 degrees C and massive elevation changes. Gridlock border crossings, terrible mountain roads, ridiculous crosswinds, the bike took it all in stride. The only 'issue' I had was when riding into a direct headwind at 130km/h with loaded sidebags, I had to downshift into 5th for several hours; no biggie.

It was an amazing trip, and I have so much more respect for the little 310GS now. I'll share a few pics below to help motivate others to get out there and ride!

i am glad that the bike took care of you. I hope that all the problems with the small gs will be soon solved. it is too great of a bike to reject just because bmw or tvs (the one who makes it in india) messed it up.

I completely agree. I wouldn't have the confidence to climb gravel mountain roads on a heavier bike, and the size is a major benefit when filtering through traffic. And it just seems to sip fuel at low RPM. BMW has a real winner in the 310 if the teething issues are resolved. I'm already planning the next trip.

That was a fantastic adventure, it shows that a smaller lightweight bike has many advantages on this type of trip.

Awesome adventure. It's a great entry bike with great promise to be one of the best. Also glad to see Kris attempted to give the bike some praise - or at least I think he did.
