Hello from the PNW

Picked up my 2018 G310R a month and a half ago and I love it -- I would love another 20 hp to play with, but the bike does exceptionally well in both town and highway riding.

Just did my first service and the bike feels so much slicker. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I swear the engine/trans make less noise now too.

Welcome! Where is PNW?
I also recently had the running-in service done, but did not notice a difference in engine sound or performance. Maybe yours had no oil in it before just kidding of course. Although on my C650 Sport the oil was in fact way too low already after its first 1,500 miles, I had to add almost a quart. Others have also reported dealers not delivering the bike with the correct oil level, so best to check rdgularly and after a service.
Happy (and safe) riding!

I may be visiting Seattle from Norcal this summer.
How do you think the G310R will fair?
Usually I can make the 800 mile trip by car in one day.
Leaving early and getting in a little after dinner...
I wouldn't want to put the bike through that...
I was thinking 3 days via Long Beach WA/Port Angeles WA & 2 days back via I-5.
What do you think?

Hey guys, PNW is a common acronym to describe the Pacific North West portion of the USA. Not sure if it's commonly used elsewhere in the world.

Hey dude, I live in Wenatchee just over the mountains! I bought my bike at Lynnwood Motoplex and my in-laws live in Bothell so I'm over there from time to time, granted, I'm not always on the bike. It would be fun to meet up one of these days though and drive highway 2 or something! I've got a few other motorcycle buddies over here but they're not on beamers.

Yo! Not sure how much highway action you've seen on the G310R, but it's no slouch for a thumper. I commuted 30 minutes both ways on a 60mph highway to work everyday for the last month I've had it and it did just fine. I'd be comfortable doing that trip as long as I was with another pal. I-5 might be a stretch since the speed limit is 70mph and that would be ~7k revs for several hours. Break up the trip some and ride with a buddy and I'm sure you'd be good!

It is not placebo effect. Getting the particle ridden oil out of the engine and putting in fresh oil with fresh additives does make a noticeable difference, The biggest difference is the way the shifting just gets much smoother.
