The smell of a new GS

Ive got that smell of a new GS in the stable, a mixture of sweet and pungent as the paint cools down from the 100k run home from the dealer. This ones tri colour with 6km on the clock and it sure enjoyed getting out of the shop and onto the backroads. It rides really well after taking some air out of the tyres, I like to run 28/32psi on these light weights. Got the Motech engine bars fitted and have ordered a Dominator round exhaust from Poland to bypass the cat, and hear it growl. ridiculously cheap imo. I think I'll stiffen the rear suspension up to 3. Then it'll be getting to the 1000k service asap, and get the engine singing the sweet song they get with a few kilometers on the clock.

Ligkonakos likes this.

3 weeks later.
Yesterday I got the 1000k first service. Ive been a bit kinder to this new bike, took it easy for the first 1000ks. Boy do these bikes love an oil change. All ready to take it to the white light now. Rode very smoothly on the 80ks home, and decided to pull the new Dominator pipe out of ita box and install it onto the bike. It was a bit fiddly and took several attempts to get it lined up properly and free of the swing arm. Finally got it sorted and took it for a run back through the forest. Good bumpy ride and nothing fell off and I'm very happy with the results. I like to hear a bike and was also pleased to feel the extra mid range torque. While the pipe is louder I dont think its too loud and it does encourage more spirited riding, especially on the dirt.

Thought Id post some pics of the GS through the forest before the service and a couple with the new pipe.

Good going! That exhaust looks more Hayabusa or Ninja than 2018 BMW to me but whatever, main point is you like it. Here's to many fun kms!
