Smile Another Old Guy & new member.

Hello to all.
Just joined the Forum,i've recently heard about the G310R & i'm very interested in learning as much as i can & looking forward to seeing one when they are in the dealers.
I'm yet another old rider(with a passenger)looking to return to riding after not owning a bike in the UK since 1979,so i'm thinking about a bike that's small & light,& is JUST big enough to carry my wife & myself,we don't need a land barge(done all that)

According to Cycle-Ergo we should fit ok on the 310R & it looks like my wife shouldn't be stuck up in the air, with her knees tucked neatly under her chin,as seems to be the trend with most modern light weight bikes i'm aware of,what could possibly go wrong

The 30ish BHP of the 310R,will be more than enough for 2 old people to enjoy an afternoon ride, keeping to the posted speed limits
Oh & we're based in the UK,in Warrington.

Cheers,Graham.

Welcome to the forums! This is definitely the place to learn about it. Not owning a bike for so long and finally getting back on one, I think the G310r would be perfect Have you ridden anyone elses bike since then?

Welcome to the forum! It's never to late to get back on a bike, just need a bit of a skill refresh after taking a long break.

I think you and your wife should fit fine on the g310r, depending on how tall she is.

Thanks for the replies,i have been doing quite a bit of riding for some years in the US,but i wouldn't want to attempt to own the bikes iv'e been riding there, here in the UK.
I will only buy a light weight bike to get back into riding over here(UK).

My wifes probably about 5'2" nowadays, but going by Cycle-Ergo the G310R looks a decent fit for her,but we'll see

Welcome from Oregon. Read all the posts here and check out youtube's multiple videos, sounds like the G310 should fit your needs well. Mine, too, hopefully it arrives before another winter.

Forgot about Cycle Ergo! That's a nice general way to give you an idea how you'll fit on there. Of course it's not 100% accurate but it gives a great idea on what to look forward to

Smart move, often I see riders jumping onto bigger CC bikes right away and for no good reason, instead of focusing on where they are at as a rider and really drilling down on what they need.

G310R should be fun to throw around, even for your wife.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
My biggest problem is going to be getting my wife into a Dealer to sit on the bike, she has this strange idea that just because we're old,we shouldn't be any where near motor bike showrooms!

As an aside(not sure if i should add this here or a new thread?),i read a comment somewhere(can't remember where)that there is already a rear rack & backbox, for the 310R,can anyone point me to this?,i can't find any reference to it

You'll be made to feel right at home in a BWM motorrad dealer, they ignore us youngsters in favour of " the more experienced"

I'm pretty sure the rear rack comes as standard, the top box (and possibly fitting kit) is an extra. Here is the dealer paper work - http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/uk/en/...G310R_Spec.pdf

Thanks,Arwen. So are they calling the rail that looks like a Passenger grab handle the rear Rack & does the top box mount to that?
All i'm looking for is a passenger back rest type thing.
Not sure my wife will be that convinced about the BMW dealers, she has this strange idea that all UK bike dealers are full of Valentino lookalikes & we don't really fit that image, she's much more comfortable in US dealers, with the Pirates..
