Since it is your first bike I will say keep it shiny side up and don't go over board with it. That being said I beat the holy **** out of mine every day ( I have been riding since I was around 13 and I am now 64 ). I don't think mine knows what a red line is. Mine is a 2018 G310GS and has around 17k miles on it so far. Its had its fair share of problems ( cush drive rubbers, stator, voltage regulator, battery, and the kick stand recall fix ) but all has been fixed by BMW under warranty and it is running a lot better than new. It has taken me and all my gear camping from one side of the USA to the other and back without a hitch at speeds from 0-96mph, and 8 hour days at 70-80mph, both on and off road. One of the best / most fun bikes I have ever owned. There are always problem with first year bikes and the G310's are no exception.
Have fun, enjoy your new machine, and be safe.
