Greetings from Palawan, Philippines

Hi. I'm a semi-retired Architectural Engineer now living on the paradise tropical island province of Palawan, Philippines.
I live in the provincial capital Puerto Princesa which is a 6 hour ride away from the northern resorts around El Nido, and a 7 hour ride away from the southern border with Borneo.
Palawan is a long, thin, finger-shaped island only 30km wide at it's narrowest with high mountains along it's spine clad in tropical rainforest, and stunning white sand, palm tree lined beaches along the coastline. There is only 1 real paved highway which runs north-south along the length of the island. Most of the other roads are at best sandy-gravel roads and at worst very rough & muddy/sandy trails.
Hence the reason i'm buying my adventure bike.
A big huge GS1200 or similar would be a complete waste of resources. I did have a 650 V-Strom up until recently when a severe Heart Attack threatened to put and end to my adventure biking retirement dreams, but now on the road to recovery I'm a few days away from taking delivery of my new G310GS....a perfect bike for my location (and health condition).
I'm looking forward to my new adventures.

Welcome Geoff, you make your island sound very special and ideally suited to this lightweight and agile motorcycle. Good luck with your recovery, health is most important.
