Angry Luggage Support broken....

Anybody had a problem with the aluminum luggage support???

Mine broke some time ago on - I have to admit - very bad, uneven dirt road and me going quite fast.
On the supporte a Givi Topcase was mounted which was empty at the time, so overweight can not have been the problem too....

Now, BMW tells me that this is not a case for guaranty..., as no material problems where detected!

Anybody had similar problems, what do y think about this???

As an engineer, it looks like a material problem to me! It looks like an impurity or stress concentration caused a crack to propagate. I.e. the crack can only be due to a material problem.

If you took a good look at the two parts, you should be able to see where the crack started.

Just tell them that an engineer (me) that has worked for BMW, believes the crack is due to a material defect.

Peter,
welcome to this forum.
Hope you will win this.
Normally aluminum luggage supports will not break at normal use.

I just add your country to "where are you from"
