GPS and warranty

Hi there, I just read that if you install a GPS system to localize your bike in case itís stolen you lose your BMW warranty. Is this true? Has anyone already installed it?
Thanks for your answers.

That sounds silly. Unless you've done something that materially affects the operation of the bike or causes a problem, it shouldn't.

How were you planning on powering the device?

Credible source?
What type of GPS system is being referred to?
Lastly, call the service department of your BMW dealer and ask them, they have the resources to verify this claim.
