New bike

When I first purchased the G310R a few months ago, it was my sincere intention to
keep it for a minimum of 1 year, maybe all the way to 3 years, because of the warranty.
Then migrate to my last bike. I'm 60 next year, and my last bike ever is to be a BMW R 1200 RT.

Then do some touring up and down the west coast of the USA (I'm in Sacramento, CA).

I selected the G310R because my previous bikes were automatics.Yamaha Majesty 400cc and Vespa GTV 300cc.
The goal was to purchase a bike that would allow me to progress back into the gear changing arena..
However, all that has changed, literally overnight. Tomorrow, I am trading my G310R in, and buying the R 1200 RT.
To all those Nay Sayers who beat the G310R down.

This is probably one of the best entry level bikes from BMW, ever. The price is right, the quality is top notch German engineering.
Engine power is phenomenal and the weight distribution is spot on. I will always recommend this bike to anyone looking to get their
first. I even have a friend who's 18 year old is getting one because of my recommendation. I loved this bike.

This has been a great forum for me and I have enjoyed all the banter and courteous replies, to what were some times strange questions.
I hope you all ride safe and enjoy the rest of the rain free year (Here in California) anyhow, and have fun with your bikes.
Remember, that even if someone runs a red light and crosses your path, it is your responsibility as a bike rider to be watching for that scenario,
that could happen every time your out there. That's what I do. If you anticipate, and ride defensively you will be fine.
My Father died in a motorcycle accident in December of 1963. He should not have even been on the road. One lane twisting country lane in England.
Middle of winter. Ice on the roads. Pedestrian Crosses, he brakes, skids and that's it. Unless you absolutely have to be out on the road. If its raining, snowing or ice. Don't do it.

Stay safe and be aware of your surroundings and those idiot cage drivers.

Good Luck and Keep It Shiny Side Up. Hope the new BMW is not not much too fast ( weight and power ) big difference going from 350lbs and 35hp to over 600lbs and 125hp. Just be safe and take time to adjust to the new bike.

I hear ya Zente.
I have 125 miles freeway ahead of me on my way home.
So lots of room for getting familiar with it..

Take care!
