2016 BMW G310R – FIRST LOOK REVIEW by CycleWorld

CycleWorld had a chance to test the G310R, see everything they had to say here and discuss below

We knew that BMW had a sub-500cc model in the works, and here it is: the 2016 G310R, a compact city-type roadster that will be unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan next week. This new 2016 G310R—built in India by TVS Motor Company, a partner of BMW Motorrad—is designed to compete with the likes of the KTM 390 Duke and the many small-displacement machines from Japan such as the Honda CBR300R, the Kawasaki Ninja 300, and the Yamaha YZF-R3.
So, what is this new BMW G310R? It’s an all-new bike designed for “relaxed, stress-free” riding, and power is provided by an all-new engine—a liquid-cooled 313cc DOHC 4-valve single with electronic fuel injection. Interestingly, the intake is on the forward edge of the cylinder, which has been canted rearward to create room for the injection. With an 80.0mm bore and 62.1mm stroke, this new BMW single puts out a claimed 34 horsepower at 9,500 rpm, backed by 21 pound-feet of torque at 7,500 rpm. Claimed weight of the bike? Just a hair below 350 lb. The KTM 390 Duke, for the record, tips the scales at a claimed 342 lb.
