BMW G 310 GS Spotted In The Wild

We knew BMW was going to release a whole lineup based on the G310R including an adventure variant and now there is photographic proof that the G 310 R-based adventure bike may be closer to production than we originally thought.

Caught on camera by Italian motorsport publication motociclismo, the upcoming G 310 GS will have the same 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the standard G 310 R. Unless BMW tunes the engine, we can expect to see it produce 35PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque. Also shared between models is the 6-speed transmission, wheels, brakes, up-side down front forks, and rear monoshock, but with an increase in travel.

Although the GS variant based on the G 310 R, its exterior takes after BMW’s well known GS line. WE can see the GS influence in its beak, high-mounted mudguard, sculpted fuel tank, raised suspension set-up, luggage carrier, pannier mounts, single headlight and windshield. This mini adventure bike will join the entry-level adventure segment and maybe even appeal to new riders who are apprehensive about jumping straight onto a 650 GS.

BMW hasn’t released any new information in light of these spy shots, but we can expect to see the G 310 GS at EICMA 2016 in Milan and it should go on sale in 2017.

I want the GS model instead of the g310r, mostly because of the touring look and because of the raised suspension. One can never have too much suspension and ground clearance when the streets these days have so many holes and bumps.

Think that luggage rack is available for the g310r too? Just seems like a better option that wearing a backpack in the summer heat. Right now I'm considering the g310 gs too as it has more of what I'm looking for in terms of daily usability.

Too bad BMW didn't reveal the G 310 GS at Intermot. That's a pretty large power sports show sin't it?

It's one of the larger ones with a lot of publications covering it but if BMW wants a larger audience, then the World Motorcycle Expo (EICMA) this year may be where they choose to debut the G 310 GS.

Too bad there wasn't some video to go with this, would love to hear how they sound passing by. Fortunately at this point it's a matter of time.

If they're already testing the G310R GS, maybe even letting journalists test ride them then can we expect to see the mini adventure bike go on sale in the first quarter of next year?

Here's a few close up shots of the BMW G310 GS from motociclismo. There's even a shot of the handlebar!
