Thought we could start a thread on fairing protection, crank cases, etc. Seems like an important part of owning your first bike in case any accidents happen. Best to try and minimize the damage as much as possible.
So far I've found crash bars in progress for the G310R from a Russian company, though I've never even heard of crazy Iron until now.
They got some guards here too , Engine, rear, front : motomachines . com
I have to do it like this becouse i havent posted enough to get the real link :grin2::grin2:
Those GSG's look great and at $145 a set I would probably look into getting a couple. Although this won't be my first bike, concerns of dropping still exist. Picture for reference:
Their site isn't as well polished as I have come to expect these days. Maybe wait a bit and see if any other options crop up and if there really isn't any, then get an affordable set from wild hair?
The Wild Hair site sketches me out. I mean... I have ordered parts from sites that look like that before but that was before the standard for part websites stepped up drastically. So I'm a bit weary on it.
SW-Motech looks pretty legitimate to me, even have their own catalog. Most of what they offer are luggage related, but there are a protective options like a black crash bar for € 129,95. The sliders aren't that expensive either withe the rear axle set costing the most at € 59,95.
with the G310R and GS marketed as beginner bikes, drops are bound to happen and cosmetic damage isn't too big of a deal. But important bits like the rear axle, swing arm and drive shaft needs to be protected. Combined with the crash bar and you should be good to go.
Hopefully some new riders are smarter than that and instead get a used bike as their first. Easier to deal with drops then compared to a bike so new unless said riders plans to keep this for a while, then it won't be so bad.
Got lucky at our local BMW dealership.
They had wunderlich crash bars on demo bike together with wunderlich side stand shoe.
After someone bought demo bike he/she asked to remove extra accessories.
So I've got crash bars for 200 (official us price is 300 and not available at the moment) and shoe for 10$.
Going to install tomorrow.
Will post pictures once it is done.
