Hi everyone, in the maintenance of 20.000 km need change fork oil, but in the manual don't see spec of oil, with 430cc of 10W the fork is to much hard, practically doesnt work.

the bmw part number is 83192449422 "Telescopic forks oil Type 3", but I do not find the SAE grade

someone knows the grade of the oil?

regards from chile
sorry for my poor english...

I would have guessed that 10w was much too heavy for such a small light bike.
You may find that the original fluid was something like ATV ( honda used this in the ntv650) this is about 2.5w, I'd try a 5w fork oil and maybe try adjusting the "air space" to get your own comfort.

Good work to replace the fork oil! Most people forgot to do this.

Maybe there is too much oil inside.
Measure the air space instead of just filling with xxx cc. :smile2:

I have a little thicker oil inside my GS. (Do not have numbers, as Hyperpro has installed all for me)
And that works well. But I do not have the original springs anymore.

with 430cc is not completely filled and that is the specified amount, but as the mechanic told me, that measure is when the fork is disassembled and is a complete filling and not an oil change (as happens in the oil change of engine xxx cc with filter and zzz cc without filter).

I currently have 360cc with SAE 10W oil and it works well, maybe a little softer.

at the moment is testing and checking that it does not reach the top
.
