Hi guys,
I just collected my new 310R from Barcelona BMW Chiang Mai, Thailand.
One day later noticed oil leakage under the bike.
OK washed the :frown2: top of clutch housing down, as I figured the dealer might have slopped oil on the top when filling.
Re test bike, even more oil!
It seems it is coming from the head gasket.
This is on a one day old bike with seventy kms!

OK dealer is refusing to replace the bike, now waiting for spare parts.

I love this bike, but consumer protection in Thailand is a joke!

Does anyone have contact info for BMW head office, customer services in Germany.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Really sorry to hear about your dealer experience thus far with your new bike Micky. Had no idea that there were these kinds of discrepancies between regions. There is no way that kind of issue would fly here and I hope that you find a contact who's willing to help you sort the problem.

I hate to say this but... How many miles were on it when you bought it? Might want to check history in VIN number and do you think maybe someone at dealership blew engine over revving it? does engine VIN match one on frame?

I don't know if there is any legal recourse in Thailand. I have been there a few times and have wondered about this kind of thing from dealers as I have hear similar stories in India. Maybe the head company BMW does not have as much influence over the distributer there as it is a Partnership which a local company, not actually BMW.

Best of luck, maybe replacing head gasket will be all it needs, if it happens again I would want engine replaced under warranty. OR demand new engine (not bike)

I would not over-react, they will fix it under warranty and most likely this is the only issue you will experience with the bike. Bummer if it takes more than a few days for the parts to arrive, but let's hope this is fixed soon and you can start enjoying the bike.

OK guys, I have the bike back, it is truly amazing, for a short rider!

I am still waiting to be advised what work as been done, as they assured me there would be a five year warranty on this fix.

Oh and the offer of free BMW jeans, as a sweetener, has been with drawn, co pilot seriously unhappy!

Will update re how this awesome bike holds together!

Cheers.

OK the upshot of all this is; the bike is awesome!

Finally after three months, I have in writing, 3 year warranty, 5 years on head work.

Plus 4 years road side assist, so all sorted.
