Re cost: Remember, the offer you got was from a third party who would have to pay full price for all the BMW parts, whereas BMW only pays the production cost of the BMW parts.

Re bike-purchase-dealer vs warranty-service-dealer: Both have to operate according to BMW's dealership rules. Clearly offering the extended warranty is optional whereas servicing a bike that is under warranty (regular or extended) is not optional. Makes sense to me.

So does this mean that you can get the extended warranty from a dealer even though you didn't buy the bike from that dealer? This seems like too good of a deal to be true, especially compared to the offer I got.
Yes that’s exactly what it should mean and why I brought it up originally. I say should here only because I never like to claim something absolutely factual unless I did it or confirm someone else has. Regarding cost I think it’s generally accepted across the board extended manufacturers warranties are cheaper than third party-and better as seen by the month/mileage differences in the options presented in the thread.

I guess it falls under the OPs claim that not all dealers participate and your dealer prefers that RPM warranty. Most likely because they make more money on it than an extended BMW warranty. Not a problem but the consumer needs to be educated about options. I am curious what your dealer would say if you showed them Jerry’s pic and said you wanted that warranty.

I asked my dealer if the extended warranty was transferable like the original warranty and he sent the following...

Jerry,
Below are the details.
It’s an OEM extended warranty and not done through a 3rd party: all of the claims and payments are handled through BMW/FS. Customers will love this.
No cancellation fee: if the customer wants to cancel, we don’t charge (each state has different rules as far as time due to state laws).
Customers can sign up for the warranty during their OEM warranty OR after! That is huge. The majority of extended warranties will not let you sign up a customer who is already out of warranty.
Up to 4 YEARS OF ADDITIONAL COVERAGE!
24 hour roadside assistance included
$0 deductible
Good at any and all BMW dealers
Exclusionary Coverage- all parts and components EXCEPT: paint, trim, lights, battery, tires, maintenance and normal wear and tear
Claims are done via our normal warranty claim process in DCS Net.
It can be transferred but only in private sales. If a customer trades in a bike with the extended warranty at a dealer it is immediately cancelled and can’t be transferred to the new customer.
