(no the header image is not the actual bike)

It doesn't take much to connect the dots.

Word broke that BMW's Indian partner TVS would debut their own fully faired version of the BMW G310R next month at Auto Expo 2016.

What does that mean for BMW though?

First things first. TVS is only a manufacturing partner, all engineering responsibilities fall firmly to BMW. It is BMW developing this bike for TVS and not vice versa.

Couple that with the fact that BMW said some time ago that the G310R platform would spawn a full suite of models including ADV and sporty stylings. It's not hard to imagine that the bike codenamed U69 is a fully faired BMW G310R in waiting.

A sportier option would give BMW a competent machine to fight the like of the Yamaha R3, Honda CBR300R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC390.

Is it really going to be the g310r sport? The fully faired bike will be sold by TVS with their own badge in India and other Asian countries so it can't really be considered a BMW bike even if they designed it.

BMW rival to the Ninja 300, RC390 will be a good move, one that should do well for them, especially with bringing something that will come closer to the Yamaha and RC in performance.

you're not reading very well then. The article doesn't say that the TVS bike will be a BMW. It says that:

1) BMW developed the bike for TVS
2) BMW said they will sell G310 in all kinds of derivatives
3) so logic says expect the BMW developed for TVS to be become a BMW shortly

better?

That looks ridiculous, if it comes to market looking like that it'll be one of the best looking (IMO) on the market although it will come at a cost, a cost still worth it.

Granted it's only a rendering but the fairing looks great and it looks wider than the G310R, makes it looks like a higher cc bike.

Indeed, noticed that a trend in the industry, more big bike cues being brought down to smaller CC bikes. Seeing this from brands offering cheap bikes all the way up to those that break just above the $10k range.

Just a heads up for everyone. We've already seen the g310r in it's production form but BMW is going to be showing it off at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Maybe we'll see the fully faired version there too. Makes sense since both the production and auto show is in the same country.

This is not a fact, just something I'm hoping for.

The problem is, we don't really know when the fully faired version is supposed to come out. All BMW said about the two other variations was that they'll be revealing them "shortly" after the g310r. NO idea when that will be.

Can't wait for that to go down.

Hopefully they release some good bits of information around that time and don't just show it off to the public.

Here's a few pictures of the g310r based sport bike called the Akula. The overall design is very nice, or it could be the full black fairing. Just need to do away with those awkward front signal lights.

i'm still a fan of adventure bikes, but the Apache 310 from TVS is faster and has a higher top speed than the Bajaj Dominar. A Rushlane reader who was riding a Bajaj Dominar 400 tried to keep up with a Apache 310 that was being tested and they couldn't catch up.

Rumor has it, the TVS Apache RR 310 S has a top speed of 175 kmph, meaning it's faster than the Duke 390. If the Apache can do that with a 313 cc single cc liquid cooled FI engine, does that mean the g310r can be tuned to produce similar performance? I think the g310r tops out at 157 kmph.
