My 2 cents about having this on a GS is that if you fall offload, the "Sliders" sticking out would become fulcrums of a vey high-energy lever with you on it. A regular guard which is designed to not catch on rocks etc. like the Hepco / Wunderlich makes a lit more sense.
IMO - the guards with these pieces sticking-out are more suited to street bikes like the 310R.

Agreed - if you want something that comes up high on the bike I'd look at Rumbux or Hepco Becker to get that style without having the sliders poking out.
