Hey, as you all know I've been meaning to service it for quite a while now and I know I promised you some pictures on a special road trip I'm planning -which unfortunately has been postponed until I take a breather from work-. I wasn't sure if I should have post this on the recent "1st maintenance service" thread or not but I'l just leave this here since this section is quite empty!

While I have been arranging to send it to Athens with my dealer, it came to my attention that there's also an authorized BMW dealer here in Rhodes. ~20km from where I live but it's definitely better than 420km; one thing that worried me was their trustworthiness because this is Greece and anything can happen haha.
My dealer up at Athens had told me 120€ on the materials (oil + filter I presume?) plus however much time it takes them (typically 1 hour they said, and 1 hour of work is about 50€) so it would have been about 170€.

Thankfully, the dealer here in Rhodes was extremely pleasant and cooperative, he even agreed to work on the motorcycle the same day I called him despite how much work there had to be done at the workshop (lots of BMW and Mini cars).

In the end of the day I went there at 9.30am and I had it back at 11.20am, and the total was 75€! The person in charge of the personnel told me that according to my contract the 1st service should be free of charge (work hours only) and that I should only pay for the materials used. I liked his honesty (rare thing here) so I decided to fork some extra € to buy everyone involved a coffee from Starbucks.

As a side note, I did find that the bike is smoother now although that may just be a placebo. Gear changes are butter and dealer told me he did some adjustments on the rear brake as it was "misaligned" from the factory. Also he told me that 1.500km is no big deal and I won't have any problems with the warranty, he even told me that it's better to be late than to be early/on time.

And that sums up my day (22/08), I'm glad I didn't have to patch my motorcycle inside a ferry and travel to/from Athens two times (15h per trip); also I got almost an unexpected 100€ surplus!

PS: I'l try to arrange the road trip as soon as I get assigned to a lighter work program, hopefully next week or mid-September where tourist season slows down.

That dealer sounds like a keeper! Hold on tight and never let go of them because that kind of honesty is hard to find for both cars and motorcycles. 75€ is a lot cheaper than what the other place quoted and they've even adjusted it for you.

Did they do the recalls to replace the handlebar bolts, the bolts holding the riders footrest hangers and bolts on the front brake caliper. I had them done yesterday when I had the 600 mile service done. You can check by looking at the bolts which are now torx bolts whereas the old ones were ordinary allen type bolts.

Interesting, on mine (stock, not serviced yet) torx bolts are already on handlebar clamp and on front caliper, but not on the riders footrest. And no open recall for it.

This might be one of those things were we have to contact and follow them up on. But in the end they might suggest that we have to wait for the notice.

Thanks for letting me know, apparently there already are torx bolts on the handlebar (and some on the engine guard?). Not sure if my dealer changed them or they came like this, on the invoice there aren't any bolts included.

That's terrible news. One of the things I was happy to see when I got my only glimpse of the 310 was the absence of torx fasteners. Yes, I have a complete set of torx wrenches in my garage. But I don't always carry my garage with me when riding, and almost every garage on this planet has some metric hex wrenches. :frown2:
