I contacted my local BMW dealer about the G310GS and when they were getting them in.
They have got back to me and said
"The launch of the new G310 is during February 2017 and we are hoping to have the bike a week before lunch"

So in time for the new registration plates in the UK!

Awesome, thanks for the information. Can't wait to see UK owners start taking delivery of them.
What are you going to be doing with your current bike? Getting rid of it or adding a G310 to your stable?
I'm keeping my little msx. It is perfect for commuting to my work and costs pretty much nothing (except mods...) To keep running :)

The G310 would be for going longer distance for me :)
Thanks for the release date! Is that just for the G310R or does it include the GS model too?
I asked about the GS version and they came back with that. As both of them appeared on their website at the same time, along with their prices I expect both bikes are being released at the same time.
That's two months away for those in the UK. A lot earlier than I was expecting for both G310 variants. Hopefully, global release will happen around that time too.
I didn't expect the two to be released at the same time at all. I thought the GS variant would come at least 3-4 months after.

There are many reasons for it, those to do with what the market wants and those to do with what BMW has going on internally on a production level and when you combine those two very basic things and look at the bigger picture it can make a lot of sense as to why they would do it now rather than wait. If this was a higher priced segment then I can see why they'd wait.
My uk dealer expects the g310r in March. They also sent a spec sheet showing the below accessories as available to be fitted (at additional cost) at time of purchase.

Top case (29 litres)
Comfort seat (for a higher seat height)
Low seat (reduces seat height)
Heated grips
LED indicators
12V socket
Main Centre stand

The same accessories should be available globally, just hope they don't charge too much for a 12V socket. I need it for my phone or GPS.
Looking at other BMW bikes, I'd say at a guess :
Heated grips - £240
LED indicators - £100
Center Stand - £130
Different seat - £100
Top Box - £200-300
That's pretty pricey, either way though for accessories like that, the aftermarket is where it's at. They'll be drastically cheaper as well.

For anyone they will be the only difference is how long and how much you pay since that will undoubtedly vary. Hence why I like living in cities known to have a lot of dealers and riders, good chance there will be local stock, not something coming from overseas.
So I popped into my local BMW dealer this morning and got talking about the 310's. They've had quite a few people interested din then so will be getting g both versions in the how room.
They had a look on their system and they have a handfull of 310r's showing as currently being built in the factory.
The 310gs is apparently showing as June. However he reckons this is incorrect as these orders have not been updated in months...

Their understanding is both versions will be released along side all the other new BMW bikes on the 25th February. So I'll pop back in then!

Also, full test, £1k worth of kit and 310r for £99 per month for 2 years on hire agreement. ( One off £500 up from payment)

Sorry pic is rotated, it won't keep the settings for around the right way...

So that's £2376 over the span of two years not including the initial £500 payment. That sounds like a great deal if they're throwing in the £1k and the licensing test. Those alone will help you make more than half your payment back.

Are you planning to go with that option?
I'm booking the final part of my test for the end of this month, so probably not. But if they could do simmilar and throw in insurance rather than the test fees I'd go for it :)

Did they by any chance mention what allocation of the GS will be like once they get a shipment or do you at least have some idea of what it could be?
