Been looking for a top case the last few days, specifically looking at a Givi case (DLM30 TREKKER DOLOMITI).

Now some things I don't really understand. Givi lists it as compatible with the 310R but I reckon it needs an underplate as well? Also it doesn't give me an option to order it at their site though there is a local e-store that has it on stock at the moment. My main concern is, how should I go about purchasing the case/plate? E-store doesn't seem to specify if the case comes with a plate or not. Alternatives welcome as well, though I prefer the aesthetics of the specific case.

Hi Ligkonakos,

Topcases usually come with a base plate matched to the case, however you will need a bike specific mount (or the OEM rack) to mount the base plate to.

Looking at the following links you will also need to order SR5125 https://media.givi.it/XN-Prodotti/istruzioni/SR5125.pdf along with the case.

https://www.givi.it/m/my-motorcycle?step=4&marca=BMW&modello=G%20310%20R%20(17)&famiglia=icoTOPCASE.eps&incrocio=C&id=1579
Hey Eccles thanks for the quick notice.

As I understand it, the SR5125 is a mount/plate right? Says in the instructions (which are pretty nicely thorough by the way) that it can be combined with the base plate provided by the top-case as well. So apparently I order the SR5125 and the DLM30 and I'm good to go? The only thing that's missing is that I can't seem to order the mount/plate from the Givi site, and there are no e-stores that offer it either...

Hi, looking at the fine print, and as this is a Monokey style case, it appears for the Monokey cases that you need to also add a mounting plate. I'm no expert in this mind you.

The description for the SR5125 says that MonoLock cases include a base plate "or with the plate already included in the MONOLOCK® top cases "

You need to order TWO mounting plates : the one dedicated to the top-case Monokey (M5, M7, M8...) and another one specific to your bike, here the SR5125.

I plan to order the Dolomiti DLM46 for my GS, so I need the SR 5126 (still hard to find) plus the Monokey base plate. The Givi e-shop doesn't seem to work so I go through an Italian reseller.

Hello, I installed the OEM BMW top case, which came out a LOT cheaper than any aftermarket top case, including the original mounting plate and bracket for the bike. I will probably do a little paint work since my bike is white and the case black, but other than that, I´m pretty happy with the result. Good luck!

Motorrad accessories says "No product" for the GS... And the 310R listing comes with a quite small (30L) topcase priced above the same size aftermarket, so I prefer to stay with Givi.

Makes sense, all of these combined are relatively within my summer's budget (along with the Akra) so I'll probably look into it then, since now I can't seem to find the SR5125 in any local e-store.

I find the OEM top case to be fairly ugly for my tastes, I never liked the rounded black/red on any bike especially a street bike.

It's not itching me to buy one right now since I can carry out my errands/jobs with my laptop backpack conveniently, but at summer where I won't need my laptop with me at all times that's where things get messy. Cheers for the replies!

Just received the big black Givi Trekker Dolomiti DLM46, the Monokey M8 mounting plate plus the specific G310 GS plate recently produced by Givi.
Impressed by the quality of the aluminium case and lock system. This will perfectly match my cosmoblack GS ! (I'll post some pictures when mounted)

Thanks for that!

I mounted one of their monolock (scooter) cases as a temporary solution to locking storage - it was cheap. May go back and look at the Trekker now.

And now with the case mounted !
I know it may look big to some of you, but I'm used to bring a lot of stuff on my bike, and that's why I took this sturdy design. It holds 2 helmets (1 fullface, 1 jet).

See how Givi added some reinforcement legs below the plate.

Seems to have a better finish than I thought. To be honest though it looks quite small for what it can hold (never a bad thing!) but I like its sleek looks even more now. May I ask where you bought the 310GS specific mount? If it's an e-store maybe they have the 310GR mount as well.

Doesn't look as big as I thought it would. I was looking at the smaller Dolomiti case, but will now look at the larger.

Re: the G310R. I believe that you will have to add the mounting rack from the GS first. I know that on the BMW accessories site they say that this part is needed to mount their topcase.

GiVi MAY come out with a G310R specific mount - but unless they do, you'll have to add the BMW part # 46 54 8 566 278 ($235.00 in the US) first

Givi have listed a rear carrier for the G310R - part number SR5125. You then select which top plate you want - M5, M8 or M8 etc. (must be Monokey type) The Trekker Dolomite box will fit that setup. You do not need any BMW parts.

Yes that's right ! And I've bought both mounting plates in this Italian e-shop (link for the 310 R) : https://www.accessorimotostore.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_86_7446_7447
As you can see, the SR5125 specific rack is twice the price of the SR5126 (310 GS) since there is no luggage rack.
