Hi all, I recently purchased a new 310GS in tri-colour which hopefully will arrive next week.
I've been riding for about 3.5 years and started pretty late in life (44).
I currently have a 2011 Ducati Monster 659 (a detuned 696 for the Aus restricted market). It's been a hoot, particularly with a pair of termi exhausts, but its time for a change. My main dislike being it gets a bit tedious in traffic, and air-cooled in the hot Australian summer doesn't help. It was also coming up on some major service items like valve checks and timing belts so the time was right.
The GS is completely different, but what attracted me most was its simplicity, value for money, and the fact that it seems like a great bike around town with a little off-road flexibility thrown in. Personal taste, but I think its also quite nice looking. It's physical size in person surprised me quite a bit! On the test ride I stopped at a favourite cafe to grab a coffee and struggled to get my right leg off the bike in front of about 20 customers haha  I can flat foot the bike however with the standard seat, but its just difficult to clear the pillion hump with the current level of flexibility in my legs

Some photos of the 659 while waiting for the GS to arrive:

A Ducati and a Beemer, is it? Well, now you'll have a pair of Beemers - even better! But you may have to adopt James May's approach to vehicles. He famously said on one Top Gear episode, "It's German; there are procedures. I like procedures."
