I thought I would post what I have done to my new 310GS.

1. To import a windscreen would cost me the dollar equivalent of $190. I bought a piece of 3mm poly-carbonate and based on pictures I have seen of other windscreens I made one up myself with the use of a jigsaw and a heat gun for $12.
2. I found that the rear brake is too short and too low. I attached an extension on top of the brake lever with the hex bolts acting as the traction mechanisms.
3. I attached 2 tool tubes below the luggage rack after making a bracket to attach to the front of the tubes and cable ties to hold the rear part. I use the tubes for waterproofs - pants in the one and jacket in the other.
4. Using a Ram mount, I attached my tyre pressure monitor and old Pebble smartwatch (for seeing phone messages and for music control).
5. I put a 2 x USB power outlet on the handlebar

I seem to have exceeded my max number of pictures allowed so I'll post more in a following post!

I also added a tyre pump under the rear guard, a Garmin Nuvi mount (saving for a Zumo 396!) and Barkbusters. Please be warned that when fitting the Barkbusters that the nuts connecting the aluminium bracket to the handlebar bracket might connect and damage the paint work on the tank! The handlebars need to be adjusted and moved a little bit forward to avoid this happening! I found out the hard way!!!
You may also see the mount connected to the left rear view mirror for mounting the GoPro remote.

Very ingenious modifications. The dual tool tubes might make some people thing you've added a Ducati dual under-the-seat exhaust system. Let them think that!

I should add that none of the mods are 'invasive' - no holes drilled into any component of the original bike or any original bike part modified.

Hi Trev! A bit late but West Coast Parts in Table View, Cape Town sells a touring screen for R1233.00 (https://www.facebook.com/westcoastpartsza/photos/a.806541826093243/1828420973905318/?type=3&theater).

Ditto on the rear brake lever being short and low.

Also thanks for the heads up on the Barkbusters - I have received my set but yet to install.

Hi maximus. Apparently I have too few posts to be able to PM you! Can you give me some info on that windscreen - how high and wide is it? Also, do you have the brake pedal enlarger? How much and where can I see it? I saw a few on the internet but was concerned about possible lack of grip.

Maximus. I have contacted Roodt at West Coast. He has stock. Would you do me a favour please and measure the width of the windscreen near the top? - I would like to see how is compares to mine. Mine is a bit shorter but if the width difference is enough then I may consider buying that one.

Hi trev,

This are the URL:
https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-motorcycle-accessories-styling/tableview/bmw-r310gs-touring-screen/1002586628840910005452209

It's a Kappa Touring Screen that's about 47cm high and 37cm wide. 4mm plexiglass.

Nope I don't have the brake pedal enlarger but considering one.

Have measure one for you :)
