Has anyone managed to source the oem charger that plugs directly into the factory connecting plug?

thanks a lot! but how does it connect? i do not see any wiring. Is it direct fit, or some additional connectors/plugs are required?
On top of the mentioned plug-in socket, you will need the actual USB charger that connects into that socket. Part # 77522414855:

Alternatively, if you want to skip one part and have a USB charger that goes straight into the connector already on the bike, I don't think you will find an OEM solution, but you can take a look at this: EASY310USB

If you have the GS there are 2 sockets zipp tied to the frame under and to the left of the display unit. If you can get the headlight out without braking anything you can get to them that way. If not the tank cover and all the top and front fairing has to come off to get at them.

I got the connector heap sent in the second link. It charges only when the ignition is on.

It's connected to the headlight and sits right where I place the RAM mount for the phone, so it works great for me.

this also looks like a neat solution.

I wanted direct USB ports so got this.

Just made a hole through the clock side panel and plugs straight in. They are only live with ignition on though.
just double checking - so with this no additional cables are required?
No extra cables needed. But it does need a bit of effort to get at the connectors and you need to drill a hole for it. The other option would be a lot easier to fit.
