After riding my G310R for over 2400 kilometers I still love it.
But isn't love not also trying to accept that not everything is perfect ?

The clutch is not going very smoothly. The dealer says it has something to do with the cable but it's not feeling comfortable.

Shifting gears is also not going smoothly all the time. If it has something to do with the clutch ???????

The bike is also loosing coolant fluid. The dealer has to change the water pump but the gaskets are still in India (Delivered in October 2017 ?????)

Center stand ........ a continuing story. Is still in back order en hopefully 2018 (???????)

The filler cap (fuel) can not be closed without using the key. I have to use the key to close the cap and need some force to turn the key backwards to close the cap.

Besides all these little things ....... it runs very nice.

I have the same problem shutting the fuel cap but I found that it's best not to try and squeeze too much fuel in when filling up. I have had no problems with the clutch and changing gears are ok - finding neutral is a bit difficult at times though. If it is a problem with the clutch cable, your dealer should have been able to sort it out. I think you may struggle with getting a centre stand as I have noticed that BMW Motorrad UK are not showing it as an optional accessory any longer.
Like you, I really like riding the bike.

I cant get on with these gears too, horrible clunking at times.
How do you change your gears? Two fingers or 4?
It will help if you use 4 and fully press clutch lever in/disengage drive fully.
Also i rev my bike quite high and it changes up wayy more smooth.

I use 2 fingers to change gears up and 4 to go down and it finds neutral alright but its not what it should be in my eyes.

Gears are good for me. I am also loosing some coolant and will let them know when I get the service done. I don't mind having the fuel cap only closable with a key, this seems like a safety feature so that the fuel cap is not accidently left open, also, as Glencoeman said, try not to squeeze too much fuel into the tank.

Bas310, how quickly are you loosing coolant? mine takes about 3 weeks (300-400km) to go from max to min.

Gears / gearbox: wasn't it a problem here that caused the original delay in delivery dates?
I think another reason for the delay was that TVS did not originally use the correct fasteners as specified by BMW and so had to upgrade to the correct ones, hence the recall to change some bolts.

most of the time I dont bother with the clutch lever, just treat the bike like its got a quickshift. once you get the knack of rolling off the throttle at the moment you upshift, it works a treat.

I only use the lever when starting off and stopping

Thank for your replies.

I told my dealer about the clutch cable and he says there is nothing to do about it. I will be back >:)
It feels as if the cable is not moving smoothly (when I use the clutch ;-) I use the clutch not to often only when I'm just 'touring'

I will try not to full the fuel to the top and hopefully find out the fuel causes the gas cap not to close properly.

Coolant fluid. My dealer filled up to the max and gave me a little 500cc bottle 'just in case'.
After the first service at 1000 km I did not need to fill it up and I already drove around 2400 km.
It also depends on the tube that has to let the 'over pressure' go (in front of the engine, behind the spoiler). If it hangs down, the floor is wet with coolant fluid. If I turn it up, there is no leakage !!!!!!!

Changing gears ....... I wonder how you can change gears with your hands / fingers. I use my foot !!!!!!! Just kidding. I use 2 fingers but move the lever complete to the handlebar. Only when I start riding after having stopped, I use my full hand.
Changing gears is, to my impression, depending on the weather / temperature. Is it warm, no problem. Is it getting colder or raining (cooling), it seems to get harder to change gears.
This is something I have to try out.

Like everybody, I'm waiting for the center stand !!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I found out that the chain tension was to high.
Putting the bike on the side stand the limit was way under 40-50 millimeters
I have adjusted the chain tension and hopefully this will solve the changing of the gears.
At the moment I'm down in France (French alpes) by car and did not have the time to ride the Beamer to find out if the carina adjustment helps.
It will keep you updated.

I had an issue yesterday. I came to a complete stop behind some stopped cars and went to downshift gears. It was in 4th and I thought I shifted down to 1st and looked and it was only in 3rd. I kicked it down twice and the gear indicator on the dash blinked a dash ( - ) where the gear number is. I just held the brake and let out the clutch and stalled it on purpose restarted and down shifted as normal. Thankfully the transmission cooperated because the cars behind me were getting impatient. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

It has happened to me several times, but I believed (as I still do) that it was due to the novice level of my driving. Most (if not all) times it happened, when the bike was "cold". Solved it by moving the gear shift up and then down. In general, I really believe (maybe mistakenly) that these things happen until the 1000km break and me getting used to the bike.

(One thing I am sure about, is that you should not worry about the silly habbit of cars or drivers in general being impatient, unless there is an ambulance or a police car. Worrying about that leads to stressed reactions, and being a driver, needs you to be calm.)

Years ago I had a Gixxer 600 and never had a transmission problem like that. I had let the 310 warm up a few mins before riding and had been riding for 30 mins before this happened.

I have this too and it has, in my opinion, nothing to do with 'temperature'
It happens when I want to downshift quickly.

If I downshift normally and 'double clutch' there is no problem.
With double clutch I mean 'use the clutch lever completely, downshift one gear, loosen the lever, use the lever again en downshift again'
Also use the throttle between the two 'intervals'

This only happened to me when I was breaking in. It happened 2 times in a single trip at ~200ish and once at about ~800ish. On that third time I just let the clutch out slightly until it "unblocked" and it hasn't done it to me again ever since.

FWIW, that’s happened countless times to me on my F800GS. And just like Ligkonankos says, just let the clutch out slowly until it sniks into gear. After 84,000 miles on my bike, the transmission continues to work just fine.

I made a (test) ride with the right chain tension (as mentioned in the ‘book’)
Changing gears was much better.
So, I you have problems changing gears, check your chain !

This morning I called my dealer.
Why ....... because the gaskets and new wage pump arrived.
I brought in the Beamer a week ago and was trying to find out if it was ready.
I want to ride it !

When I brought the bike to the dealer I ask him to look also at:
- clutch - cable was really going smoothly.
- front break - sometimes I could ‘bring’ the lever almost to the handlebar and ‘damage’ my fingers.
- the fuel cap did not close without using the key (with some force)

Today I heard that
- the water pump was repaired (replaced ?)
- the clutch cable will be replaced by a new one (still in Munich, hopefully in by tomorrow)
- something in the front brake (?) will also be renewed and that part is also in Munich)
- fuel cap ........ no news.

Now I have to wait for tomorrow to find out if the had an overnight delivery from the factory in Munich and time too fix everything.
I can’t wait .................

My clutch ok up to now Bas but small issue of fuel cap key I agree feels like its going to break when locking the cap, even pressing down firmly with spare fingers !
