Hello.
I did 291 km (181 miles) with a full tank.
the range indicator was at 5 km (3 miles).
90 % was 105 -110 km/h (65 -68 mp/h)
no vibration.
no to bad for 11 lte reservoir.

And out of curiosity, do you remember how many liters it took when re-filling? that would give you a more realistic consumption figure.
Mine seem to take around 8.6 liter when the range is close to 0KM.

Thanks Heap, that's indeed the question. Was anyone ever able to put in 11 liters when the range remaining showed 0 or close to 0 kms left? Inquiring minds want to know!

Just a friendly reminder that you do not want to be running the tank all the way empty. The fuel pump motor is lubricated by the gasoline and running it dry will damage the motor in short order....

It may be possible to damage the fuel pump by running the tank dry. But I did that 4 times on my old F800GS to no ill effect. So I’d have no problem running it dry on this bike either. My guess is you’d have to run it dry and then crank the starter for some extended amount of time to do any damage.

The best approach I think is to run it to 0 miles remaining on the odo, then carefully note how much fuel it takes to refill. Calculate the actual miles remaining based on the fuel still left in the gank (despite the gauge saying that should be close to nothing) and you know how far below 0 you can go. I figure that number is at least 20 miles/30 kms, or the equivalence of one liter. This would mean tht the actual range is close to 200 miles, or 320 kms, of mixed driving. Moderate speed highway driving should be much higher.

Well, most of the reports, if you read the posts in this thread where this topic was discussed a while ago:https://www.g310rforum.com/forum/297-bmw-g310-mileage-fuel-economy/3057-fuel-range-calculation.html, were stating that once near 0KM on the range, we fill somewhere in the 8-9 liters. That was making me think that this tank was not really 11liter after all... but then there was at least one exception where someone put 10.89 liter! (this post specifically: https://www.g310rforum.com/forum/50034-post15.html)
So there was no clear conclusion it seems. :confused:
EDIT: the 10.89 liter fill was on a GS, not sure if it's a variable to take into account (i.e. is the tank on the R exactly the same as the GS?)

hello.
i re-did the test this morning
4 km on range indicator.
272km on highway with my dauther 13 old with wind in face.
spedd= 90-95 km/h


i fill 9,845 lte
3.62 lte / 100 km
it's very good

These are very encouraging economy figures for a new GS rider like myself.



I'm planning on bolting on a 15 litre auxiliary fuel tank so I will be able to safely go over 600km on a fill.
