I purchased this 4 yrs ago,18.5k miles of smiles, great for nipping round Central London with a Dominator exhaust.

You should install AutomatricsMTrack on your next bike, it is similar to Coyote Secure Rider. When the vehicle is stolen you report it to the police. Once this has been done the maker activates the tracker remotely. Unlike other trackers who rely solely on the GSM network it uses also VHF/UHF radio to transmit its location, which allows a detective to locate the vehicle even in an underground parking or in a sea container. Once located has been confirmed the detective notifies the police and the owner so that a recovery operation could start.

Well, the AirTag would be good without its "anti-stalking" feature... Let me explain: if your bike is stolen the thief will get this notification on his smartphone (iOs or Android) "An AirTag not associated with your iCloud account is following you". This happens even if the speaker has been removed... Therefore a thief can locate the AirTag and get rid of it or simply de-activate it. Truly efficient anti-theft systems have another design.

They won't be able to locate it if the speaker is removed, they would need to take the whole bike apart, and it will not indicate that they are being followed until they reach a known location.

No, the thief will "bury" the bike underground into a deserted parking location (to prevent a tracker from working) or into a sea container (same). Then the AirTag won't be able to report its position. Conversely Coyote Secure Rider and AutomatricsMTrack will report the position of buried bikes using VHF/UHF radio waves. Bear in mind that in Europe theft is a huge problem, and if you can't react very quickly the next step is breaking the bike for parts in a so-called chop shop (less risky to resell than the whole bike).

Sure, but for less than $40 and no subscription, you get pretty decent protection against the not so professional thieves.
