Hi,

Just wanted to share my experience fitting an sw-motech "alu-rack" designed for the G310R .

Installation is very simple, basically you need remove the rear handles and mount the rack instead.
Fitting is perfect, provided hardware is good quality, everything lines up perfectly. Instructions clear and easy to follow. Takes roughly 30-45 minutes to install. A set of allen wrenches and a 13mm wrench is all you need.

The weight is 2.45 kg for the assembly (2 side rails and the top plate).
Considering the now removed stock handles weighted nearly 1 kg for both, you're basically adding 1.45 kg on the bike for having a rack instead. Not bad. I've had other, heavier racks in the past on other bikes where sometimes the weight affected the bike handling, this is not the case here. Also the rails provide similar spacing that the stock handles, so I can still use them to move the bike around, and passengers can still use them as handles, no problems.

Since I've been owning 2 Givi cases for over 15 years now, and that they're still doing their job, I of course decided to keep them. sw-motech as an adapter plate for Givi, monolock style in my case. Weight is 850g. Cool feature is that the plate is easily removed (3 quarter-turn cam bolts that are attached on the plate, takes literally 10 seconds to install or remove, see from photo #5 and on). Once removed I find it makes the bike less disguised than some other models do. On the photos the case is a Givi E33 case (33 liter). My other case is bigger (45 liter).

The sw-motech rack + the givi plate costed me around CAD$ 230. (So saved quite a few dollars compared to the OEM rack which ends up somewhere around CAD$ 380 with all the hardware and without an adapter plate for Givi)

Here are the part # references if needed:
GPT.07.649.15000.B - ALU-RACK. Black. BMW G 310 R (16-).
GPT.00.152.406 - Adapter plate for ALU-RACK. For Givi/Kappa Monolock. Black.

PS: I'm not affiliated with sw-motech whatsoever, just happy to report an add-on that I'm satisfied with.

This is great news. I need to be able to book mark this post because I have a Monokey (Trekker) case I move from one bike to other because I have the adapter plate on 2 different bikes. Good to know that SW Motech makes a rack for the 310r. hopefully the monkey system fits on it. I have had good luck with everything I have used from SW motech

Yes, I bought the Monolock plate because this is what I needed obviously but you can get the Monokey one:

Awesome! not surprisingly Givi makes a good adapter plate too. One of my adapter plates is givi the other SW moTech. Do you know what the weight limit is for loading the rear rack? My case is 11 pounds! I hope to also use it on the 310 but don't want to over do it.

The instructions that came with it mentions 11 pounds total (including case + mounting plate).
