many riders think that by lowering the spring pro-load they make the spring softer. it is not true. the softness of the spring is determined by spring rate. lowering spring preload, just lowers the bike, period. the only way to make the suspension softer is changing the compression/damping or changing the spring rate. i made the mistake of ordering Tractive rear shock with too high spring rate. Even at the lowest setting, I could not reach the right riders' sag. the bike was too high and too stiff: I could feel all the imperfections on the road. I had to send the shock back, and they now changed the spring to the lower rate. RR gives a very good service.
