This is the Ultimate only in the sense that I'm just continuing the theme introduced by @Cyrille...

Thanks Jerry, looking forward to discovering your ultimate tools list.
In my post, G310GS Ultimate Tools List, link below, I promised to post my packing list once it was complete.
Tools List Post: G310GS Ultimate Tools List

Well, today, in about an hour, I launch to do the MABDR, followed by the PABDRX, followed by attending the BMW National Rally. I did a full dress rehearsal yesterday during my weekly Wednesday ride with the Sons and Daughters of Arthritis, during which I discovered that my GPS mount needed to be tightened up so it doesn't rotate downward during bouncing off-road segments, but does allow adjustments when I use both hands to move it. So, the bike is all ready and packed; I just need to gear up and meetup with three others I'm riding with.

Because I'm hoteling it this trip, I'm using a subset of this list that came out to be just 15.4 lbs (7 kg) plus the empty weight of two water bottles and two fuel bottles I decided to include at the last minute. I'll fill them when and if the route merits it. Note: This is a net weight; it does not include the weight of Mosko Moto Reckless 80 and Gnome tank bags that I'm using to carry it.

So, enjoy my shot at the Ultimate Packing List. I know I enjoyed creating it and, by the time you see this, I'll be on the road enjoying it.

Thanks JerryG! Would be useful to indicate the approximate weight of each bag (fully loaded)... to assess the overall weight:
  • RR 310GS "JerryG Limited Edition" = _ _ _ Kg vs. Standard 310GS "2021-now" = 175 Kg (Unladen weight, road ready, fully fuelled)
  • Bags = _ _ _ Kg
  • Tool kit = _ _ _ Kg
  • Rider = _ _ _ Kg
Sorry, but that will have wait until I get back home circa mid- June.
This is an interesting other end of the spectrum for a minimalist.
Not sure what you mean. You think this is maximalist? Or just on the high end for a minimalist? I'm perfecting my load plan for doing the TAT next followed by some Western BDRs. In contrast to my 15.4 lbs in 24 liters, which I expect to become ~27 lbs and 39 liters with camp gear, I'm currently on the MABDR with three riders who have fully (over)loaded F850GS, F850GSA, and R1250GSA. The TAT ride will be with a group of smaller bikes; hopefully not overloaded.
Actually, I'd like to turn the question around on you and anyone else that would care to comment: What would you take off my list and why?
I went through a period in my life where I purposely got down to the "100 things" challenge for minimalists.

That is, I had 100 total possessions. Of any sort and kind, 100 total things.

Like most minimalists, I didn't stay there.

But the packing list was interesting for me.

I will grant that you're far more prepared for eventualities than I tend to be. ✌

It all started with "Be Prepared" and achieving Eagle Scout at just 14, but was really cemented by the "backup for the backup for the backup" mentality that infuses an Army Colonel after 31 years in the Army.
If I were cut out to follow orders I don't agree with -- and I'm not at all cut out for that -- it's the Marine mindset of more with less that likely would have appealed to younger me.

Both approaches have their merits.
You misunderstand the Marines. They don't do more with less, they just get what they don't have from the other Services and that's OK - we need the Marines for the unique missions they focus on.

I don't think I misunderstand Marines. You just misunderstand my background. And that's OK.
I disagree. I worked with Marines for years. They consulted me the first time when I was an Army captain. The relationship continued on and off for the next 20 years.

Nevermind my 35 years, then. 😉
I remember when the Royal Marines eere staying at for a couple of weeks on the camp i worked at. Bar was locked down, gym was locked down, game room was locked down,TV room was locked down, every facility was locked down for the duration.

A visit from the Royal Marines is like a visiting plague of locusts - you have to at least try to prepare.

You can't have it both ways...

"You weren't cut out...likely would have" implies you didn't.

"35 years" implies you did...something.

So, I'll bite, if you weren't a Marine, what did you do for 35 years that makes you think you are more knowledgeable about Marines than a retired Army colonel who actually worked with them for twenty years?

I didn't say I was more knowledgeable.

You're the only one in this conversation feeling competitive.

I simply said I do understand a bit about the Marine mindset of doing more with less.

35+ years working alongside the military in 18 countries across 4 continues.

Back to motorcycles.
