BMW Motorrad presents the BMW Concept F 450 GS.
Concept of an accessible and off-road capable BMW GS for the 48 hp mid-range class.
I have to disagree: BMW is not saying it will replace the G310GS; it's saying "With the near-production-ready BMW Concept F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is offering a glimpse of a BMW GS for the A2 license class and what a whole new model series between the BMW G 310 and F 800/900 could look like." I've provided a link to the BMW F450GS press release web page below and I've attached their pdf of the press release below. The press release page also has 50 press quality pictures of the F450GS. If you have an account at the BMW PressClub, you can download them there. If you don't have such an account, it's easy to create one or you can click the "photo_package" OneDrive link below to download the 534MB zip file that BMW PressClub produced for me when I downloaded them.Hi guys, the 450GS is announced for 2025 on the european market - the prototype looks like a real finished bike.
On the european market, I've no doubt it will completely replace the G310GS as competition (new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Voge 525 DS, possibly a Kawasaki 500 Versys based on the new naked Z500 ...) is clearly too high for a 310 mono and the 2 bikes would share the same segment.

If the seat is narrow the height may be mitigated to a degree. I agree with your assessment based on what these pics show. My own G310GS is 35" due to RR kit and seat concepts high seat and it's no problem for me at 5'9". This seat looks narrower.I have to disagree: BMW is not saying it will replace the G310GS; it's saying "With the near-production-ready BMW Concept F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is offering a glimpse of a BMW GS for the A2 license class and what a whole new model series between the BMW G 310 and F 800/900 could look like." The moto-net web site provided by @motardes04 interestingly says, "the F450GS, which will arrive - very - soon in its dealerships", but I have not seen anything from BMW actually saying that. So, crossed fingers that they have a good source for the "soon" part of that claim.

Some of my favorite BMW PressClub F450GS photos...
Assuming the man is average height/inseam, this pic suggests the F450GS seat height will be pretty high.
However, I do recall the project manager saying that one of the production changes will likely be a lower seat (or low seat option?).

In this one, I can hear the bike saying, "That's not too steep; let's go for it." 😋

That's a good observation re the narrowness and that's good info re your high seat. I've been considering a Seat Concepts high seat to give my knees some more room. I checked; at least twice before. It won't happen again; I just placed my order. I would have done so before Baja, but they couldn't deliver in time. Hell, by the time the 450GS becomes available, my 310GS may be so perfect that I won't switch up, but then, I do want a backup bike.I feel like we've had this conversation before.
No worries! I think with the slew of new bikes coming out, it might be best to wait just a little while to see which one performs the best and is most reliable. The 310GS will still see action for at least two years in my estimation. Then it will be hard to part with.I checked; at least twice before. It won't happen again; I just placed my order. I’m all over that 457 and this year has shown a lot of potential coming very soon. I plan to ride the **** out of my 310 and probably scoop up the winner of this years announcements when the used ones start popping up and we see some reviews with some real mileage on them. Finally, it seems that the unicorn bikes are coming. I'd gladly pay a premium price to get an under 400 lb, 44 -48 Hp bike, with upgraded suspension, and spoked wheels. The 390 Adventure R looks great, but if Aprilla delivers a Tuareg 457 that might have my name on it. I will keep the 310 and see whether it makes sense to export it to Germany where I have a house and would love to have a TET bike. So excited....
All that said, it might make sense to wait a year or two till the verdict in on which bike is the best and what issues need to be sorted in the first year editions.
Six days and they've already shipped my Seat Concepts tall seat; clearly, we're in the off-season.I just placed my order.
I thought you were handy with a wrench?Aprilla is a no-go for me; the nearest dealers are three hours away.
Awesome - Christmas has come early this year! It was fun putting it together. Let me know how you like it.Six days and they've already shipped my Seat Concepts tall seat; clearly, we're in the off-season.
Given the pic you used, you're probably reacting to the headlight; that gets a lot of criticism on the 1300GS, but so did the asymmetric 1250 headlight when it came out. I have to admit, given that they put the 310 headlight on the F900GS, I was very surprised that they put the 1300GS headlight on the 450.No one else going to state the obvious? That is one ugly motorcycle.I'll keep the little 310.
I think it looks great. Agree on the headlight though. I prefer something similar to what they are doing on the new KTM 390 Adventure R. But otherwise I love the look of this little BMW.Given the pic you used, you're probably reacting to the headlight; that gets a lot of criticism on the 1300GS, but so did the asymmetric 1250 headlight when it came out. In any event, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this beholder likes how the 450GS looks; I see a lot of similarity with the 310...

Not G...F; it's not a thumper; it's a twin. Even if they don't do an R, it would be easy to make a supermoto version out of the GS.Waiting on the G450R
I think you are right. BMW's press release states "With the near-production-ready BMW Concept F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is offering a glimpse of a BMW GS for the A2 license class and what a whole new model series between the BMW G 310 and F 800/900 could look like." Given that, the price should be between the 310 and 800/900 prices or it would up-end the ladder that BMW wants to entice to climb.Pricewise I bet that the new F450GS will be sold, in the European Union, for something like 9 000 € to avoid competing with her sisters (F800GS: starting at 11 000€, G310GS: 6 700€). That's just my guess, if BMW Motorrad would ask for less I'd be delighted!
