I just purchased a 2018 G310R that has a Akrapovik exhaust system. I found out the hard way that the system has a major design flaw. I was parking and had dropped my leg down behind the right foot rest. The bike rolled a couple of inches forward until the exhaust pipe was against my Draggn-Jeans pant leg. I got branded right through the pants. In looking at pictures of the stock system BMW puts a second heat shield there where as Akrapovik does not. So rider be ware!

Actually, i think that I was wrong. I think that I fitted that heat shield by myself. It has a been a long time, and now I am out of the country. But as many members suggest here, it is easy to fit any aftermarket shield. I just fitted a Chinese carbon one of my crf250. Carbon is better, because it does not heat up, but in this case metal one will give enough protection. And just my 2 cents, if you buy Akra, SS is better, because carbon ones can crack, especially if you have a crash. I had bad experiences with Delkevic slip-on on my Vulcan S. The carbon just cracked for no reason.
