My current weight is 75 kg, and the suspension feels fine overall. I’m aware the system has its limits, but it’s still a great and very versatile motorcycle.

What’s really annoying is this: when riding off-road, whenever the front wheel leaves the ground, I can hear and feel a distinct “klonk” noise. The fork seems to be topping out. This happens especially on steep uphill trails, where the front wheel carries less load, and it occurs quite often.

What would be your best guess on how to eliminate this noise?

The bike currently has 5,000 km on it, mostly street riding (I’m the second owner).

They all do this. Mine does this less when I put the Rally Raid Level 1 spring the right side fork leg. My goal was to improve the overall suspension performance and the spring did that, but it also reduced the top out noise. However the spring change does make pavement a bit more harsh. It is great off road.

Hi _chris, my weight is currently 67kg and yes overall the stock suspension seems fine but like yourself when offroad and going uphill on rocky slopes it has happened once too many times so I've opted to change out my suspension to Andreani Misano Evo front fork kit( installation in a few weeks time). I have just over 10000km on my GS and plan to do a few ACT in mainland Europe next summer and figured since I'm keeping the motorcycle long term I'd do the upgrade. Brookes suspension in Bradford had a sale on and it came in at less than £500. I did the math and if I have the motorcycle another say 5 years it works out at about £100 a year for what can only enhance my riding experience. Not sure if this helps your decision but loads of people upgraded their suspension and seem more than happy with the results.

I noticed this right away on mine as well. Not anything to worry about... its just an annoyance. One day I'll open the forks up and see about adding some sort of bump stop or maybe rig up a limiting strap. Not really worth it though. Let it clunk!
