The brake line is not a one piece line as the line from the handlebar master cylinder goes to the ABS unit and another line from the ABS unit goes to the front wheel caliper. The"small gadget" which I think that you are referring to (mounted to the bottom of the lower fork yoke)is part of the lower brake line and is just to stop the brake line from rubbing against the frame and forks.
